This family originated in the Domesday manor of PRENE in Shropshire and took 
their name from it. The manor later became the parish of CHURCH PREEN which 
lies north of Wenlock Edge and south-east of Shrewsbury. In early centuries, the 
PREEN family was found mainly in Shropshire and Gloucestershire but they later 
spread all over the world. A One-name study has been set up which organises Annual 
Reunions and publishes a newsletter and books on the history of this family.
